Buying branded bags for the first time is where most of the avoidable mistakes happen — the wrong artwork file, a minimum order you didn't expect, a colour that came back different from your brand. Run this checklist before you pay a deposit.
Send print-ready artwork
A vector file (AI, EPS or PDF) with fonts outlined prints crisply at any size. A screenshot or a small JPG from a phone does not. If you only have a raster logo, ask whether the supplier can redraw it and what that costs.
Confirm the minimum order quantity
Printed bags almost always have an MOQ because of setup costs. In Kenya that's commonly a few hundred to a couple of thousand per design. Know the number before you fall in love with a spec.
Ask for a proof
A digital mock-up shows layout. A physical sample shows the real paper, the real handle and the real print colour. For a first order, pay for the physical proof — it's cheaper than reprinting 1,000 wrong bags.
Plan for reorders
The point of branding is repetition. Check that the supplier keeps your artwork and spec on file so bag number 5,000 matches bag number 1. Inconsistent bags read as a shakier brand than plain ones.
Get delivery in writing
Lead time from artwork approval, not from enquiry. Delivery cost to your actual location. What happens if the count is short. None of this is unusual to ask.
In short
A good first order is boring: right file, agreed quantity, approved proof, confirmed dates. Do that once and every reorder afterwards is a one-line message.
