How to Choose a Packaging Supplier in Kenya (Without Learning the Hard Way)
A first-time buyer's path through choosing a packaging supplier in Kenya — the questions that actually predict whether a supplier will still be reliable on order twenty.

Every business owner who's ever ordered packaging in Kenya has a story about the supplier who looked fine on WhatsApp and fell apart on delivery day.
The first order is not the test
A first order is usually small, urgent and closely watched — most suppliers perform reasonably well under that kind of attention. The real test is order five, placed on a normal week with no special follow-up from you. Did the spec still match? Did it still arrive on the date given, not the date chased?
Ask what happens when something goes wrong
Every supplier eventually ships something short, late or slightly off-spec — it's a real business, not a promise of perfection. What separates a good one is whether they own the mistake and fix it without an argument, or whether you have to fight for a resolution every time.
Samples and proofs are not a formality
A supplier who happily sends a physical sample or proof before a full run is telling you they're confident in their own product. One who pushes back on that request, or tries to sell you straight into a full order, is telling you something too.
Communication speed predicts delivery speed
How fast and clearly a supplier answers a question before you've paid anything is a reasonable preview of how they'll communicate once you're mid-order and something needs clarifying. Slow, vague answers early rarely become fast, clear ones later.
The suppliers worth staying with are rarely the cheapest on the first quote — they're the ones who are still exactly as reliable on the twentieth order as they were on the first. That consistency is worth paying a little more to secure.
